okay i got this answer, but i’m having problems following them, not the brightest!

Put a piece of fabic on the inside of the jacket. The thread will hold the embroidery and the fabric together and there will be less strain on on the leather.

You have seen embroideries on motorcycle jackets? They have dozens – on the back, front and sleeves.

If they tore as easily as you are wondering about, the person doing the sewing would be in a big heap of trouble.

The sewing is usually a zig-zag stitch done on a sewing machine with a needle for leather.

You have to open the lining so the stitching is done on the leather and backing fabric only.

I have seen this done with a Brother home sewing machine at a Harley Davidson dealership by a little old lady like me

Okay. I just asked how to get large spools of thread onto smaller spools. I had several great answers.

I got one answer that I think is a really good idea. I was told to get a thread stand.

My questions this time are, how do I find out how to use this stand? How do I know if they are compatible with my sewing machine?

I have the Brother SE270D. It has a thread cassette. Do I wind it through the thread cassette? Does anyone know of any websites that will show me how to use my machine with a thread stand? Im BRAND NEW to this machine.

I have a new brother sewing machine that works fine when sewing. However when I try to use the embroidery feature the thread binds up on the underneath of the fabric causing it to either break a needle or just to stop. At first it only happened when I used certain colors (may be a coincidence) but now it is just about every time and it is tearing holes in the fabric when this happens. I don’t know much about the machine it was a present for Christmas and my son purchased it on line so I can not take it back and ask for help from dealer. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks B Anne but I sure hope that you are wrong as I just spent something like $150.00 on an assortment of thread so that I would have most colors and I am afraid that my husband will kill me if I have to junk it all.

I just got my machine and purchased Coats thread at a local store. I have trouble getting it to thread thru the top cassete loader, breaks, and doesn’t load. The spool being small on one end seems to cause me problems also. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe it is just the adjustment period getting used to the machine. I have decorated several quilt blocks with it, but it is very time consuming with the threadding problem when changing colors. This is my first strip quilt top, so I have a lot to learn. The quilt is for my expected Grandbaby so I want it to look nice. I have sewn for years, but never had an embroidery machine…Help me out girls.

Ok I have this sewing machine that used to be my MIL who is now passed away, so I am learning on my own. I have been doing the embroidery and I put white thread on the bobbin and color on the top thru the needle. I did a few small pieces and they came out good. Well the last piece I tried to do the top thread got all entangled in the bottom and around the bobbin, so I had to take it out and remove all the thread. I did a new bobbin, put it in, threaded the color, everything I was supposed to. Now everytime I try to do embroidery the white shows thru on the top on the color and sometimes I dont even see the colored thread. I keep checking it and making sure its all good. What am I doing wrong?

hi everyone i just bought a husvarna viking scanidinavia 400 sewing machine and i cant seam to find any of the embroidery cards, i have the programable card thing that does not work right for sum reason?? ia would like to purchase the cards, any help is greatly appricated, also do you know if the disney ones for the brother machine will work in mine?

I have a Brother Ls-2125i that I got for christmas…but I do not know how to use the embroidery part…I know how to change the foot but how do I thread embroidery floss or do I just normal thread?

I would like to try free motion embroidery/stitching, and I know that in order to do so, I need to lower the feed dogs on my sewing machine. How do I this? Is this a permanent thing, or is there a way to adjust them up and down so I can go from free motion to regular sewing?

the sewing machine i have now is a brother that my mom bought second-hand about 20-ish years ago and we have never brought it to a shop, or oiled it or any maintenance type stuff. it’s starting to freak out though, and it skips and bunches alot so that’s why i’m looking for a new machine. at first, i was just gunna jump on in and buy the cheapest one with the best reviews on like walmart or jo-anns…then i started researching more. some more experienced people said it’s better to go with pre-owned, second hand machines. there were blogs and blogs about antique retro machines that once belonged to their moms or grandmothers. i poked around a bit more and read other stuff about tune-ups and embroidery and that if it’s only a hobby machine, i need a straight zig-ziag…
so i wanna know, if i’m not quite a beginner but definitely not an intermediate seamstress [?], and sew mainly for hobby, what kind of machine should i get? should i look around in thrift shops or just bag a cheap one offa target? what features should i be looking for if i’m not into embroidery and more advanced projects? and what’s a tune-up and where do you get one?

Can I use embroidery thread to sew? I just bought a new Brother Sewing machine, it hasnt arrived yet but I am looking to order thread online and am sooooooo confused! I would love any insight anyone can give me as to how to embroider a monogram where the middle initial is bigger than the outside letters. Hi. I am wanting to buy a sewing/ embroidery machine for the least price possible. I am wanting to START sewing and monogramming things, your simple projects…such as baby gifts, pjs etc…(i am definitely a beginner) .The main thing I am looking for is to monogram. I found the brother se 350 on walmart.com for a reasonable price 380$, but I am afraid to get it without having someones personal opinion! I read all of the reviews and all, but since I know NOTHING about machines it is all so foreign! The only thing that prevents me from getting that one, is that it only embroiders a 4×4 area and I am thinking that may not be a big enough area?? But i don’t know!! What should I look for in a combo machine like this? I would like to be able to add fonts and letters to the machine, but I don’t want to pay a fortune for them. I know some machines have a usb port that allows you to download stuff from the internet,,is that expensive to do? And this one has some kind of card reader?? Does that allow you to do basically same thing? Anyway, please help me decide what to do! Thanks!

I’d like to upgrade to a new sewing machine, which will be used primarily for quilting. I haven’t done machine embroidery, but I’m interested in learning. Would a Brother SE370D work for both? Can you recommend a reliable machine for less than $500 that will handle both quilting and embroidery?

Hello again. Okay I know I’ve asked a billion embroidery questions by now but you all have such great advice that’s quick!! = )

I have the Brother SE270D Sewing & Embroidery machine. I just got it. It comes with some built-in embroidery letters.

My questions are…does it only embroider 1 letter? Is there an option to have it spell an entire name?

If not…does anyone have any advice on how to get an entire name embroidered without having the spacing between each letter come out all wrong?

I bought that sewing machine probably 10 years back but lost the manual. Now its totally worthless without the manual. I tried asking the company but they said they dont have it.Its from company brother (model Pacesetter) It does not have a model number. It has all the stiches and different embroidery options. If anyone has the manual and doesnt need it, then can you please mail me Or if you know any other ways I can get the manual. Please help. That sewing machine was quiet expensive.

Have looked at Brothers sewing machines for functions and price. Seem most cost effective and have many stitches, functions.
What is the difference between the 270 and 350?
What is a PED?
How do these do with different kinds of threads? (had heard they didn’t do well w/rayon?)
Do these models come with capability to add more embroidery designs? How do you download them from internet, (put on some sort of disk and add to sewing machine?)
Relavent information is greatly appreciated.
Suggestions. (not any high end machines for a hobby/beginner please, not paying $1000 for one.)

I want to resew my dogs bed that is made of vinyl coated nylon and was wondering if I could do it with my home sewing machine and what should I use to do this project. I got the vinyl cement also to seal the stitching. My machine is the Brother Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine, SE-400. I was also wondering if I could embroider my dogs name on it also while I have the bed taken apart. Any information would be great appreciated as I am not a professional at sewing so would like to know the needle and thread that I need to use if I can do this.

I’m thinking of buying a machine. i’m a petite person and lots of times I need to shorten my pants. I’m not sure if a regular machine can do same just as serger would do. I’m a little bit confused, however regular sewing machine seems to be more appealing to me. What are your advices? I’m looking at HSN machines now and I have couple picks there:

Hello. I’ve asked a few questions about my new Brother SE270D Sewing & Embroidery machine already (and thanks for all the great answers).

This time I’m wondering about threads to use.

First…I make purses and have never REALLY known what a good thread to use for this would be. So…does anyone have any recommendations for me? I need something thick and sturdy. I don’t want my purses to fall apart = )

Also…I have never embroidered before so I have NO clue what threads to use. One of my previous questions was answered with an additional comment mentioning that there are separate embroidery threads AND bobbin embroidery threads.

I am very new to sewing and I have a brother ls-2521i sewing machine. I am looking to start to get into embroidery but first want to try monogramming and see if it’s what I really wanna do.
