I recently purchased 2 used machines. A Bernina 145 Activa and a Husqvarna Viking #1 1200 computerized machine. Both are in simular shape and I paid $250 for each o them. I want to keep just one machine. Which is the better one to keep for longevity and reliability? I sew quite a bit (clothing)

It’s almost like there’s not enough pressure on the presser foot, but adjusting that doesn’t solve the problem. The result is that I have a hard time getting straight stitches, for example, topstitching is always a little ‘off’. Would love to hear of any possible solutions to this one! I’m using a Husqvarna Lily machine.

My daughter wants a sewing machine for her 18th birthday next month. She curently uses mine ( A husqvarna Lilly 550) for now but will be leaving for college soon. I would like one that can handle heavy fabrics like denim. She does a lot of alterations to her clothing. I always used Singer before and do like them. It does not need to be computerized. I would like a drop in bobbin . I am looking to spend around $200. I don’t want to go too cheap . Also, I would like to know which ones are not made in China. I’m looking for something she could possibly keep for many years.

i have Husqvarna viking des 1 sewing mc and a dongle to fit in printer port to make it work. My new comp now has usb port so i’m having difficulty using my mc. I would be grateful of any useful suggestions as my local sewing machine shop is useless – many thanks

MACHINE IS SEWING BACKWARD, ITOOK IT TO SEW&VAC IN LINCOLN MALL IN MATTESON IL TO HAVE IT SERVICE ABOUT APRIL 17,OR ABOUT.ON APRIL 27, 06 PD 81.35 PICK ITUP BROUGHT IT HOME TRY TO SEW MACHINE STILL SEWING BACKWARD, CALL THEM RIGHT AWAY O YES OIL WAS DRIPPING OUT OF IT,I TOLD THEM AND THEY SAID IT WAS RUSTY THE REASON THEY OIL IT.THE LAST TIME I HAD IT SERVICE, SENT IT BACK TO THE CO.I THOUGHT. SO WHEN THEY SAID THEY HAD IT FIX, I WENT OUT TRIED IT IN THE STORE AND IT WAS STILL SEWING BACKWARD, AND THEY SAID THE REASON IT WAS SEWING BACKWARD WAS BECAUSE I DIDN’T USED IT. BUT ITS STILL NOT FIX.

I’m trying to choose between the Kenmore 16231 (249.99 at Sears + 49.99 for $3 years service) or Emerald 118 ($399.99 at Joann’s Husqvarna dealer – 1 year service included + free new owner class (3 hours). Does anymore have experience with these machines?

i am making my own backpack from scratch. i purchased several yards of ripstop nylon. i want to make excellent, strong seams. i folded the fabric twice, then ironed it. i am ready to sew. should i sew two, parallel straight stitches or should i use an overcast stitch? i own a husqvarna viking c20 sewing machine.

I’m currently using a Husqvarna Viking Madison sewing machine, and whenever I try to sew a basic stitch, there are huge loops on the opposite side of what I’m sewing. I’ve tried changing the tension, and I cannot seem to figure out what I’m doing wrong. It also jams quite frequently, getting the bobbin thread twisted in a mess with the regular threead. I haven’t had this problem before, and I’m not sure what’s going on.
Any help is appreciated!

My Grandma gave me her old sewing machine and we took it in to fix it up. Later we got it back and I started sewing but the bobbin came loose. I tried and tried to fix it to get it to come out of the feed dog.. But nothing happened. I have to go over to my friends today so we can make our halloween costumes with my machine but I cant get the bobbin threaded correctly.
I called my grandma but she said she had to see it to be able to help me. She said she will be coming to my house next week but I need it threaded now.

i inherited a sewing machine recently and i used it for about a day until the upper string began getting caught and tangled in the bobbin case. I don’t really know much about sewing, but i do know that the bobbin case should look like a rat’s nest. i have taken off the top of the case, and watched it while it sews and it looks like the upper string is getting wrapped around the bobbin too many times while its catching the bottom thread.
If anyone knows whats wrong with my machine.. that would be amazing!

I have a Singer Quantum XL-6000, and I am looking to get a 4mm to 6mm hemmer foot. I was wondering since my machine is a snap on foot if I could use a Husqvarna snap on hemmer foot or any snap on foot for the machine. I cannot find what I am looking for in stores or at Singer’s website. I am wondering if it isn’t possible to use another machine foot, if there are any good online stores.

I want to make a tunic type. There are two rows and then a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying. Is there a special foot I need to buy for my husqvarna sewing machine?

I can’t spend more than $100 so I’m thinking of buying a used/refurbished from a reputable dealer locally.

I’ve heard great things about the quality and durability of Bernina and Husqvarna/Viking. Does anyone have any experience with these or other machines?
I will be using the machine for sewing clothes for myself and my children, also curtains and perhaps doll clothes.

I own a husky husqvarna viking sewing machine. After loaning it to a friend before moving from illinois, i discovered that the machine oil that came with it was missing, along with a stabilizer foot to keep it level.

I cant find price online of this sewing machine im trying to sell on craigslist. Its brand new and hasnt even been used once. How much is it worth?

We’re trying to figure out what kind of sewing machine to get.

My wife can basically cash in all her Sears points and get a $400 Kenmore/MD for free.

The local sewing shop is having a sale, and they’re selling a Huskystar C10 for $250 (regularly $579).

Can anyone give us insight into either of these models? Is one manufactuer better than another?

My wife isn’t a hardcore sewer or anything, but she’s also used to a fancier machine.

I just bought a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118 sewing machine for $399 at Joanns. The day after I took it out of the box, they put the Singer Confidence 7470 sewing machine on sale for $399. This is my first sewing machine, and I am a sewing beginner. The Singer seems to have many more features than the Viking, tons more stitches, more button hole styles, etc.
Anyone have any familiarity with these machines? Is the quality of the Viking higher than the Singer? Should I try to exchange my Viking for the Singer because the Singer does more?
Any thoughts on these brands, or these models would be appreciated!

I’m looking for a good sewing machine. I’ve narrowed my search dow to two machines. One is a used Viking Prelude 340. Can someone give me a little more info on this machine, like what year it was made, whether it’s a good machine, and if it’s good for sewing through at least 4 layers of fleece.
also, is it as good as the Emerald 118?

I’ve never used a sewing machine before. I want to make the simplest stitch possible. Just fixing a rip in my pants. I can power it up with the pedal, a real spool wheel turns, but the needle doesn’t go up and down. I have no idea how to thread this thing or make the needle work. There is a ‘bobbin’ undernead, but again.. no clue. Any help would be appreciated.
