Recently aquired my grandmothers old sewing machine and i’m just curious to know when the DDL-227 was first manufactured? Tried to google, all that turned up were sellers… does anyone know? I know my grandparents got it in the mid-eighties, but it must have been around before then…
thanks!

I have only been able to find out the manufacture date of the machine from Singer and it was dated back to June 5, 1896. I do not have nor can find any other information on this machine. Can anyone help?
I am also looking to restore and display the machine. Does anyone have any ideas to restore this?
I am trying to restore this machine so that it can be put on display. There is a little rust on the plate. It is industrial (meaning it looks like it has been used by a tanner for sewing leather).
This machine is very large in size and does work. It is a treadle however it is more like bike pedals not the regular single pedal. It also does not fit into a cabinet. I would never touch the paint. I have searched the web and cannot find any information on this machine. I have been told to use naval jelly on the little bit of rust that is on a steel plate. I am not familiar with naval jelly and am a bit nervous to use something that appears to be so caustic.

What are the basics of sewing on an industrial machine? so i can practice on the machine.
I already know some things about sewing, like how to thread the machine and what a top stitch is, but i want to be more prepared.

Looking to make a dress part time as a hobby type thing. What would be better for me? An old industrial sewing machine or a new one (aimed at domestic purposes) out of the box?

This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a “borderless world”, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.
In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.
In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world’s major cities for “industrial sewing machine furniture” for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

Industrial sewing machine needles are categorized as DB x 1, DC x 27 etc. what is the meaning of DB in that? 1 in that? or DC in that? 27 in that? what type of needle size system is that? Does this have any connection with European or American size system?

I am trying to find large spools of sewing machine thread for an industrial sewing machine that I have. I have not been able to find it locally and was wondering if anyone would know where it can be ordered online.

I have to do a sewing test for a fashion design program. I’ve done sewing on my own machine but they use industrial models. I was wondering if there was a big difference between the two.
