I’m getting a craft room, 16X14 feet, which will also have my desk and 2wide filing cabinet in it.
I scrapbook, sew, paint Christmas ornaments, quilt some, and I use ribbons on spools a lot, threads, embroidery thread, lots of scrapbook paper (12×12), and I have Cricut Expression & Cricut Bug, Cuttlebug, and other small machines.

ok, i need help, i have an emboridery machine and i’m pretty new to this whole thing…….and i’m going to make a shirt for my 2 year old nephew and i don’t think i’m going to be able to fit the hoop in the machine without sewing through both the front and back of the shirt, and my mom had said there was something i use to “glue” if you will the embroidery to the shirt, like i could embroider on the backing and then “glue” it to the shirt, but how is my question…………just asking if there could be any way to do that!

I have aquired an embroidery machine and have been doing some work on patches and name tags for local businss. What I currntly do is order blank name tags that have the edges marrowed. I then attach to cut away backing and hoop them to put names on. I have a really big order that this slow process will kill me on and was looking to marrow the edges myself. so that I could use the quicky name tape hoop and then marrow the edges after name is centered and on tag

I am finished sewing both sides of a Christmas stocking (velvet applique on velveteen or velvet, I forget which word is for which fabric.) now I plan to put it together by hand. Should I sew with reg. thread or embroidery floss? Which would stand the test of time better? My grandmother made these almost 60 years ago, but she died before I started trying to imitate her handwork. I think she sewed them together on a machine but I have no machine. I am very disappointed in the quality of thread and cloth in general. I made two of these 20 years ago, and what is available now in materials is much poorer quality.

I just need to alter the waistline of this blouse I have. It’s an old blouse though, so I don’t feel like taking it to the tailor’s. It had embroidery beads on it though, and if I use a machine I might accidentally ruin it. But if I sew it by hand, then it might not look as good.
o.O

I’m trying to use the embroidery unit for the first time, but my machine is only sewing in crooked vertical lines that are really close to each other (and I’m trying to do a flower), although the little cross on the screen shows it’s moving all over the image. It’s like it’s not moving the hoop very much.
Any idea what could be wrong with it? I followed all the directions in the book and even re read them a few times…

Can you use an embroidery machine to put a logo on canvas, or would it be better to make a crest on felt and then sew it on the canvas

we have: tissue paper (red, pink, green, blue, and maybe some yellow), markers, colored pencils, crayons, packaging tape, irregularly shaped white poster board (maybe), scissors, elmer’s glue, tacky glue, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, some construction paper, super glue, beads, sequins, string, embroidery floss, sewing kit, sewing machine, shoe boxes, cardboard boxes (maybe), ribbon (gold, red, white, and maybe purple), water colors, water color pencils, charcoal pencils, plain white paper (a lot), some fabric, protractor, compass (for drawing circles), pencils, pen, permanent markers and i believe that’s all. the problem we’re finding is there are so many possibilities we don’t know what to make. this is gonna be a table top project (done on our dining room table) so it has to be kinda quick (if wet, dries over night or in a day) and not TOO large. put in the instructions, what materials to use and what it’ll end up looking like, or a link to a website doing the same thing. thanks.

The pattern is a vintage one,and calls for a size 14 steel hook. Most sizes range from 00 to an 11, or a 12, but never have I seen a 14, until today, when I looked and Boye carries them.
There is a bobbin, for machine embroidery, that says it is size 70, but it looks to be sewing thread.
So i ask, what is the difference?

I got one of those little sewing machines that does embroidery by a computer program from my mother, and I have lots of fun monogramming stuff. Most of my son’s clothes have been monogrammed, the little pockets on his dress shirts, he fronts of his jon-jons and overalls, the hoods of his coat, etc. I think its cute, and will make a good keepsake for him, but my SIL tells me that it’s such a snobby thing to do and to not act rich when I’m not. Which is pretty rude to say about a baby outfit.
Is it snobby to monogram things? Not all of his things are, just some of them. All our wash clothes, table clothes and pillow cases are too, from me learning to use the machine.
katerina: That’s what I thought.

My son-in-law races and we want to get some shirts made with a picture of the car on it. Last year we did this and used computer transfer paper…We used alot of ink. We made like 30 shirts…some of them started pealing off at the corners and some of the white turned kinda yellow. So this year we thought about having somebody embroidery them with a sewing machine that does embroidery or maybe silk screen. But i know both of these are mightly costly. We don’t have alot of money to work with. Any suggestions if we do our own computer transfer paper ones.? I was trying to find out if there is a place like kinko’s or something where you can take the picture with you and use their ink to print the computer transfer paper.
Or another idea was to find someone that would be willing to make these shirts (a grandmotherly type) for some extra money. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Is silk screening like the computer transfer paper thing I did last year? I think we just were new to it and was in a hurry, the iron might have been too hot also. I just need some tips on using the computer transfer paper and if like Kinko’s lets you use their printers if I bring in my own computer transfer paper. HELP..I think the less costly way would to be the computer tranfer paper again…we made like 16 shirts for about 150.00.
I don’t own a sewing machine…so I will probably have to go with the computer transfer paper.
Becky, I can’t email you back…don’t have your email address….I want to send you a picture of the car also. Do you have a website with the stuff you have done, so I can check it out?

While we’re on the subject of sewing machines…does anyone have some tips for using a sewing machine as a person with visual impairment? Of course I’d mark things with stick-on bumps (don’t know how I lived without those!), but I can’t see the stitching to know if it’s completely straight, and if it snags…well, then I’m in trouble.
I’d also love to get back into hand embroidery, which I love to do, but I don’t know how to do it now that I’m legally blind…my stitching ends up all over the place!
Tips? Ideas? Websites on the topic?

I haven’t sewn in years-decades actually, and I want to get a sewing machine, simple forward, reverse, zigzag and button hole. My idea is to sew some tops for me and make dickies for my daughter. If I haven’t sewn in decades, do you think I should take classes or is general sewing knowledge going to be enough. (I did work as a serger in a baker mits place about 15 years ago.) Thanks for any advice on classes and is a basic machine okay, I don’t plan to use fancy stitches. (I do hand embroidery.)

I’ve read up on the types of thread (polyester, rayon, and cotton) and decided polyester would be best for what I’m going to be embroidering. All sewing machines have quirks, and so does thread, so I’m wondering if anyone out there has had success (or failures) with specific brands of thread in the Singer Futura SES2000. I just bought one and it’s on the way!

Hi:
I’m in search of Key Fob Hardware for machine embroidery projects. I have a machine embroidery & sewing supply business and need a wholesale supplier for just the hardware, not the whole keychain.
Any help in finding a supplier would be great….thanks.

I really want to be a crafty person but I’m not sure how to get started! I know that I want to make a purse/handbag of some sort but I don’t want to have to go to the store. I live in a house that has a needle and thread, an embroidery sewing machine and a lots of cloth/clothing. Any ideas on how I could make a handbag from around-the-house materials?

I’ve open an online Machine Embroidery & Sewing Supply Store. My store looks great, but nobody knows it’s there. I can’t afford to spend big dollars on ads & search engines right now. There must be a way to get started and have people check out www.not-just-threads.com. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Please excuse my typo in the first sentence. It should read…I’ve opened an online….

Hi! I am looking for a sewing machine that is reliable, not easily breakable and that MUST be able to do free embroidery. I don’t need too many fancy stitches though that would be a bonus! I don’t mind an old one as the last one I had was my mum’s old Bernina 732 which was probably about 40 years old, but it worked great, however sadly its electrics broke down due to being used to so much use as it hadn’t been used heavily since my mum used it at university about 20 years ago!!
The main things I will use it for is dressmaking – especially as I am hopefully going on to study fashion at uni, and embroidery which I use a lot in my artwork, and I don’t really want to spend more than £250, thanks very much x

Any recommendation for a guy’s sewing machine? I don’t care about having 142 different stitches and 26 embroidery styles … I need something that will sew a couple layers of denim. Patch a tear in a work shirt. Help me make a cover for some power tools .. you know man-things
I’ve asked the question to a couple of sewing machine customer service sites and they don’t have a clue what I’m asking. Everything that provides basic functions seems to be too wimpy for heavy materials.
Anything approaching heavy duty seems to have 500 useless functions and costs a fortune. Doesn’t someone make a basic function, heavy duty machine?

I need a hobby, and I have decided on sewing. I want a machine that does cool stitches and embroideries, but I don’t need one that is top of the line. What machine do y’all find works well for you? Why? And how much does yours cost? I told my husband I want one…hoping to get it for my anniversary present. I told him that I’m fine with a used one, but doubt he’ll spend more than $300.00.

I am very interested in starting up a little boutique where I make all sorts of cute things for little ones and their mommy and daddy’s too. I was wondering if you all could give me some ideas of what those things might be. I will be letting the customers choose any materials or pattern they want to use.
Some of the things I have thought about already are: diaper bags, totes, wipe cases, tutus, baby bloomers, t-shirts, burp rags, bibs….
The machine I have also has embroidery so I will be able to embroider the items as well…
So really I am just looking for any ideas someone else had in mind.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I have also thought about quilts and blankets.

I have a friend who is getting ready to sell one of her machines. I am a beginner and I am not familiar with sewing or anything. I would really like to get into sewing and using the machine. Are they hard to use? Am I wasting my time?
Thanks

Just this previous summer, I finally sat down to learn embroidery, only to find out I wouldn’t need it. Why? Because I ended up quitting the organization I needed it for.
Anyway, are the techniques the same for sewing and embroidery, or do I have to learn a whole new skill, or do I have to hope and pray my friend will be kind enough to use her sewing machine for me?
Also, i’d like to sew a dress together. Will that be too difficult?
Thanks~
