Since I purchased my Bernina 200E 2 years ago I have a recurring problem- an error that says “check hook system”. This error follows a noisy sewing session, and the machine “freezing up”. Sometimes the needle gets “stuck” in the down position too.

I am trying to buy my mom a sewing machine for Christmas. I found a Bernina activa 220 from an authorized dealer for $625 including classes, a warranty, and servicing. I think this is an amazing price but I want to make sure. Is this a good deal? If not what is?

I’m thinking of buying one and would like to know if anyone knows if a 440 is a better machine than a 430 or does it just have more bells and whistles?
I can get the BSR foot with the 430 and it will cost me less than a 440.

I will be using the machine to quilt.

Could you please give me information on bernina bernette e55 the stitches it has how good it is, pictures as I am thinking of buying my friends. He is selling it for $300NZD is that too expensive?
